Labour Party, Peter Obi’s Euphoria Will Fizzle Away Before 2023 Polls- APC Chieftain

BY EVELYN ANYANWU, UMUAHIA

The euphoria and frenzy about the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will fizzle away before the 2023 presidential election.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Hon Greg Kalu, told newsmen in Umuahia, that the hype about the Labour party and Peter Obi, exists only on the internet.

He said “Before the 2023 elections, the social media frenzy or euphoria about Peter Obi and the Labour party will fizzle away.Besides, elections are not won on the internet.

“The social media has never influenced the outcome of any election in Nigeria. Check the records. Such influence only takes place in civilized democracies, such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Nigeria has not advanced to that stage.

Kalu added that the hype about Peter Obi and Labour party on the social media is prevalent in the South Eastern part of the country and those in Diaspora who do not vote, stating that in the North and other parts of the country, the situation is different.

“Up North, all this social media hype on Peter Obi and Labour party does not exist. It is Kwankwaso and his NNPP, that is gradually making waves among the people in the North. The NNPP wave is not on the internet. Peter Obi and the Labour party are not in reckoning in the North.

“Even If they (NNPP and Labour Party) go into an alliance as speculated, things will not really change or torpedo the chances of the APC to be in commanding position to win the 2023 elections.

The APC chieftain maintained that the 2023 presidential race, is a straight battle between candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

“Take it or leave it, the 2023 presidential election is a contest between the APC and the PDP. The NNPP will make an impressive showing because of the popularity of Kwankwaso in Kano State, but such popularity cannot undo the APC, even if there is an alliance between NNPP and Peter Obi’s Labour party” he said
