As Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is advancing plans for the ongoing Voters Re-registration exercise, High Royal Highness, Eze Oliver Ohanwe has added his voice, to the clarion calls for the good people of Okigwe Senatorial zone of Imo State to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards, PVC’S, from the electoral body before the end of the crucial national exercise, so as to avoid regrets.
Eze Ohanweh who is the Chairman, Okigwe Elders Forum(OKEF), gave this patriotic advise at his Ihim ancient kingdom’s Wisdom Palace in Isiala Mbano Council Area of Imo State, when addressing the populace on the importance of having the voters card.
According to the revered traditional ruler “As the Chairman of Okigwe Elders Forum, I am passionately appealing and advising all the good people of Okigwe senatorial Zone comprising Okigwe, Onuimo, Isiala Mbano, Ehime Mbano, Ihitte Uboma and Obowo Local Government Areas of Imo State .
“This is an important resolution from the leadership of Okigwe Elder’s Forum. Never again should we continue to cry for marginalization and bad leadership. This is our ample opportunity to elect credible and visionary leaders for the entire Okigwe Senatorial zone and even beyond. These will be leaders that are patriotically sensitive to our aspirations, welfare, security, provision of more motorable roads, ultra modern markets, schools, human capacity building, peace, brotherly love and unity of purpose among other dividends of democracy ” he assured.
Eze Ohanweh insisted that his clarion call is for all the sons, daughters, wives and well wishers of Okigwe senatorial zone, as well as traditional rulers, President General’s, church leaders, non governmental organizations, market men and women, artisans, workers, youth organisations among others to be vanguards in this crusade of Operation Get Your PVC Now.
He pointed out that the re-registration exercise is seriously going on in all the local government headquarters in the State and you have the right to determine the polling booth in any part of Nigeria you want to use as a voting point.
The Chairman of Okigwe Elders Forum also stated the need for the senatorial zone to benefit more from the state’s democratic dividends expressing satisfaction that the state is currently blessed with good governance and purposeful leadership that has led to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the ever busy Owerri -Okigwe Express Road inspite of the zone’s other giant strides infrastructural democratic dividend benefits.
