Cabinet Reshuffle: Again, Imo Gets Junior Minister Portfolio

*Imo APC Chieftain Reacts

President Muhammadu Buhari has again handed Imo State, a junior Minister slot, in a minor cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday.

Goodluck Opiah, a former Commissioner of Petroleum in Imo State, was appointed Minister of State for Education, the same position Emeka Nwajiuba from Imo State, held before he resigned to seek the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Before Nwajiuba’s appointment, Anthony Anwuka, a former Secretary to Government of Imo State, was also appointed Minister of State for Education.

This clearly shows that since the advent of the Buhari administration in 2015, all Ministerial nominees from Imo State have held the position of a Junior Minister at the Education Ministry.

Analysts have continued to wonder why the State, despite being the first core APC State in the South East since 2015 has continusly being allocated the Junior Minister position in the Federal Executive Council, FEC.

A chieftain of the APC in Imo State, Engr Ben Okafor lamented over the constant junior Minister handed slot to the State whenever President Buhari appoints his Ministers.

He told INNONEWS “Imo State is an APC State, the first state to embrace the ruling party in the South East.

“The State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has shown that he is a staunch supporter of the President.

“Even Rochas Okorocha was also a key supporter of the President, when he was Governor of the State.

“It is therefore strange, why all the time what the State gets for it’s loyalty to the APC and to the President is the portfolio of a Junior Minister and the same portfolio.
