The Ohaneze Council of Elders, has expressed appreciation to the Senate and the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, for the concern it has shown on the travail of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.
Ike and his wife, Beatrice were arrested in the U.K and were charged to court for allegedly trafficking a young Nigerian, David Nwamini, with the intention of harvesting his kidney.
“By the Grace of God, the true story is emerging and our son and his wife are passing through one of those storms of life which atimes confront all mortal beings. We do not have any doubt whatsoever that the truth will emerge and our son and his wife will be vindicated. We are however, happy and profoundly appreciative of your solidarity to your dear colleague and friend during this trying period. “ part of the letter signed by elder statesman and Chairman of the Council, Engr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu stated.
The elders noted that “Ohaneze Ndi Igbo is determined to protect and any honest and patriotic citizen whose right and freedom is being unduly trampled anywhere in the world’
“The Council The Council of Elders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has therefore requested the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Prof. George Obiozor to ensure that Ohanaeze Ndigbo has a legal representation at the London trial.
