Peter Obi: I M Contesting For President To Win

by admin

Peter Obi, Labour Party Presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, says he is in the presidential race to win.

He told Channels tv programme ‘Politics Today’, on Monday, that he is not in the race to lose.

“You don’t go into a football match thinking about to lose. I’m running for President to win and I have all it takes to win. My concern is to pull Nigeria out of poverty, create jobs for the youths and turn around the country” he said.

Obi unveiled his plans for security, education and power for the country, assuring that he will deal with insecurity head on.

“We will do everything possible to handle insecurity. Every State in the country will be responsible for its security. Every option will be on the table to deal with insecurity. It will be decisive and immediate.

Obi also gave reasons why he left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying he did not inform his family members and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, because he “did not want anyone to talk him out of his decision”

“I did not inform him (Atiku) before i left the PDP. I did not tell him and other members of my family. But after three days i left the party, i respectfully told him. He is my respected elder brother and he accepted my position.

On allegations that fake Bishops and clergy men were hired to attend the unveiling of Kashim Shettima, as Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, Obi said “there was no basis for them (Bishops) to be at the event because it was not a religious matter”

“There was no reason for them to be there. Bishops should be in the Church praying for the country” he said.
