A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Abia State, Hon Steven Akomas, has said the popularity of Peter Obi, the Labour party presidential candidate on the social media, will not earn him victory in the 2023 presidential elections.

Akomas who spoke to newsmen in Umuahia, Abia State capital, said social media frenzy is not enough give the former Anambra State Governor victory at the polls.

Pointedly, Akomas, advised religious leaders backing Obi, not to be deceived or carried away with Peter Obi’s popularity on the social media to believe that he will easily defeat other major contenders in the 2023 elections.

Recall that Obi during an interview with Channels tv recently said his political journey has been rooted in miracles and miraculously, he will win the race to the presidency in 2023.

Akomas said “Miracles have no place in Nigerian politics. The race for the Nigerian presidency is not about miracles. It is a serious task and a serious race.

“Its about acceptance by Nigerians at the polls. All those who contested and won the presidential elections in the country never relied on miracles. They were accepted and voted for by Nigerians who believed in their abilities to govern the country

“From Olusegun Obasanjo, Late Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, none was elected miraculously, but were voted for because of their pedigree and acceptance by Nigerians through the ballot.

Akomas, a former Local Government Chairman, drummed support for the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his Running Mate, Kashim Shettima,  describing them as “Nigeria’s finest minds to move the nation forward’
