A chieftain of the Labour Party in Abia State, Chief Chris Eke, has predicted victory for former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.

Eke told newsmen in Umuahia, Abia State capital, that Obi will break barriers associated with the presidential contests in the country by defeating other major contenders for the presidential race such as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the APC and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.

According to him, Obi’s aspiration is propelled by Nigerians who are fed up with 24 years of misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“Nigerians are fed up. We need a new beginning and Peter Obi has become the rallying point for Nigerians. It does not matter if you are Igbo, Hausa or Itsekiri. Nigerians are uniting to have genuine change in the highest level of leadership in the country.

“It does not matter if he is an Igbo man, what is clear is the resolve and burning passion by majority of Nigerians to give new set of leaders at all levels the opportunity to lead the country” he said

According to him, Obi does not need a political structure, stating that “ the massive support trailing the presidential bid of the former Anambra State Governor is greater than the political structures of the PDP and the APC put together.

“We will witness a political tsunami in 2023. For the first time, we will be witnessing a mass political movement. Old political barriers will be broken.

“Obi will conquer the North/South divide. Ethnic and religious divides will be shattered. For the first time, we are seeing Nigerians congregating for a common cause and purpose. This has never happened before.

“The only man that came close to achieve such feat was the Late MKO Abiola, who won the freest and fairest presidential election in Nigeria in 1993

Eke said the frenzy Obi’s aspiration has generated on the social media is a clear indication that he will defeat Tinubu and Atiku in 2023.

“Those who say Peter Obi is only popular on the social media will be shocked when we go for the presidential election next year

“They forget so soon that elections are first won on the social media before the proper elections are held. This is digital age and it has shaped our way of life, including elections.

“The social media has become a serious propelling factor which shape and determine the outcome of elections” Eke stated
