Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the Yoruba socio political group, Afenifere, has thrown his weight behind the Labour party, LP Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.
He said Obi is better than Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He said when it comes to “politics of principles”, Obi is far better, stating that in terms of principles of fairness and justice, the Labour party presidential candidate is also better than Atiku and Tinubu.
Adebanjo stressed that Obi may not have the financial strength more than Atiku and Tinubu, but he is more principled.
The elder stateman said, “I am talking of politics of principle. I know that Peter has not got the dollar of Tinubu nor has he got the dollar of Atiku.
“All I am saying is that he is better than the two other candidates. And I am not talking of the baggage Tinubu or Atiku may be carrying now.”
“I am talking about the principle of fairness and justice. The moment you deviate from the politics of principle in this country, you won’t get anywhere,” he said.
He also said it is the turn of the South East to produce the nation’s next president.
“I am not discussing the issue of Muslim-Muslim ticket. I am talking of the principle of fairness and justice. Based on rotation, the Southwest has had its own. Therefore, it is the turn of the Southeast except you don’t want to keep Nigeria in peace.
“Nigeria as a country is multi-lingual and multi-religion. So, we must operate on the basis of equity, which is why we are insisting on changing the present constitution” he told The Sun.
