Alex Mbata, a business mogul and All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo East Senatorial candidate, has said his passion to aid the poor and contribute to the development of Owerri zone and the State propelled him to join politics.


He said having done so much to aid human capacity development in his personal capacity through his PAM Foundation in Owerri zone, he joined politics as a platform to do more for the people.


Speaking to select media executives at his residence in Owerri, Mbata said he is a good brand and product committed to serve the people of Owerri zone.


“I m here to help the people of Owerri zone because I know I am a  good brand and a good product. I came into politics to help the poor. I  have used my personal funds to help the poor, and I will do more when I go into public office. I constructed roads and empowered so many people in the zone in my private capacity.


Mbata said he is for issues based campaign, drumming support for Governor Hope Uzodimma, whom he said has performed creditably in office. 

“My antecedents speak for me.  When I was pro Chancellor, IMSU, I lived up to expectation.  I was never indicted by any panel.When I left the University, I was persuaded to return,  because of my good works. My good works at the University speaks for itself.

Mbata said he is not in the race to enrich himself because in his private capacity he built roads, embarked on human empowerment for men, women and youths of Owerri zone.


He drummed support for Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, debunking claims that he was planted as APC Imo East Senatorial candidate by the Governor.


“I have the same idea with the Governor.Governor Uzodimma has done marvelously well. And I have come to help and compliment his efforts.

Mbata insisted that he is a team player and a broad minded individual, having reached out to his co contestants who also vied with him for the ticket of Imo East Senatorial ticket of the APC.

“I have spoken to most of my brother contestants, such as Chief Jerry Chukwueke and Ugochukwu Slyvester (Ugo Sly). And I have no issues with them” he declared.

Mbata called on the media to resist the urge to blackmail, calling on journalists to focus on the truth and report accurately at all times.


“Please do not resort to blackmail. Always report the truth at all times” he stated.

In his remarks, the Director General, Prince Alex Mbata Divine Mandate and former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Godfrey Dikeocha, said Mbata remains the best to represent Owerri zone at the Senate.

” He is a good product and because of his antecedents as a good man who has aided the good people of Owerri zone, he remains the best to represent the zone in the Senate.

“Mbata is credible, a solid character and because of his positive antecedents, we dragged him to join politics” he stated.
