The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been berated for appointing former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, as acting Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees.

The opposition party, Thursday appointed Wabara as its BOT Chair after the resignation of Walid Jibrin.

A chieftain of the party, Boniface Nwosu, in his reaction to the appointment, told newsmen in Owerri, that the PDP is offering the South East, a greek gift.

“This is a Greek gift to the South East by the PDP.

“It is a desperate measure to deceive the South East again, to earn it’s support for the 2023 presidential election.

“It is unacceptable that a region which has stood with the party and supported it firmly since 1999 would dole out a mere ceremonial BOT Chairman to the South East because it wants the zone to vote for it again.

“This Greek gift even came to the region because of the manner Nyesom Wike intends to rock the boat of the party, if all the important positions in the party remain with the North.

Nwosu said the PDP will loose grip of it’s support base in the South East ‘because it did not deem the region fit for the Vice Presidential ticket of the party”

“The resignation of Jibrin and Governor Aminu Tambuwal, as BOT Chairman and Chairman, Governors Forum of the party respectively, is not the crux of the matter. The party is only beating around the bush. Chasing shadow leaving substance

“The PDP National Chairmanship position, which is occupied by a Northerner, Iyorchia Ayu, should come to the South.

“The party’s presidential candidate and the National Chairman of the party cannot come from the North. It is unacceptable and violates the tenets of fair-play in the party” he stated.
