*As FG Debunks Viral List*

An airport cleaner from Imo State, Ms Josephine Agu, who returned $12,000 found in a toilet at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, will be conferred the honour of Federal Republic Medal, FRM 11.

She is among 13 citizens of Imo State origin and 437 Nigerians  to be conferred national honours by the Federal Government on October 11, 2022 at the State House, Abuja.

The honours range from from GCON, MFR, CON, OON, etc.

Other recipients from Imo State include traditional rulers, legal practitioners, a clergyman,  businessmen.

But the Federal Government, on Monday debunked the list, which has gone viral on the social media.

A statement from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs signed by the Director Press of the Ministry, Julie Jacobs, stated that while it is true that President Muhammadu Buhari, will be conferring National Honours on deserving Nigerians and friends on October 11, the authentic list of nominees is yet to be released to the public.

“The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs will publish the list at the appropriate time” part of the statement read.

However, before the list was refuted, the recipients from Imo State whose names appeared on the list for honours, are HRH Eze E.C Okeke, Chairman, Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, who will be conferred with the Commander of the Federal Republic, CFR.

Ohaneze Ndi Igbo President General, Dr. George Obiozor, will be a recipient of  the  Commander of the Niger (CON), while Retd Justice Paschal Nnadi and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN,  Anthony Okechukwu Ojukwu will be honoured with the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR)

Two former Senators from the State- Senator Osita Izunaso and Senator Eze Ajoku, will be honoured with Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), while a retired Permanent Secretary, Mr Anumudu Theodore Akujobi, will bag the Order of the Niger (OON).

Other recipients from the State; include His Grace Most Rev Prof Daddy Hezekiah (OON), a medical practitioner, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu (OON) and HRH Igwe Jude Chijioke Obidiegwu (OON).

Mr. Linus Okorie,a businessman and a retired teacher, Dr Celestine Durueke will be awarded with Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).
