Council Insists Owerri Zone Don’t Have A Senator
The senatorial ambition of All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo East Senatorial candidate, Prince Alex Mbata, has been endorsed by traditional rulers in the nine local governments of Owerri Zone.
Chairman, Council of Traditional Rulers In Owerri Zone, Eze David Osuagwu Akujobi, said the monarchs in the zone, after assessing all the candidates in the Senatorial race in Imo East, resolved to support Prince Mbata.
Speaking to newsmen in his office in Owerri, he said Mbata’s massive empowerment programmes for youths, women and men in Owerri zone, massive roads construction in some parts of the zone, from his personal resources, are clear testimonies that he is the right man for the job.
He said “Dr. Alex Mbata has proved himself already and above those who said they are contesting for Owerri zone senate seat.
“He has done so much for the zone and we believe that, if in his private capacity, he can do this much, then it is very clear that he will do more if he is elected into the Red Chambers of the Senate”
He said all the traditional rulers in the zone, would soon confer on Mbata, the prestigious Chieftaincy title of Ogbuhuruzor of Owerri zone.
He stated “Mbata is outstanding. God has ordained it that Mbata would be elected the next Senator of Owerri zone, because he has proved himself to be fit and capable for the position.
“The gods of Owerri zone are witnesses to what I m saying. And it will come to pass” he noted.
Giving more reasons for his endorsement, the monarch said Mbata’s acts of benevolence are evident, visible and witnessed across the nooks and crannies of Owerri zone.
He said the choice of Mbata was the uniamous decision of all the traditional rulers in Owerri zone, stressing that the traditional rulers are interested in ensuring that a Senator, who would complement the good works of Governor Hope Uzodimma, is elected in 2023.
“We are confident that Prince Alex Mbata would complement the good efforts of Governor Hope Uzodimma in Owerri zone” the monarch stated.
He made it clear that the zone does not have a Senator because the present Senator representing the zone, is not known to the traditional rulers in the zone.
In his remarks, Secretary of the Council, HRH Eze Jude Chidi Nwaogu, said many communities in the zone are already singing the Mbata song in the zone.
“All the communities in Owerri zone are privy to Mbata’s empowerment programmes. This is fact. He is the right person for the Senate”he said.
