The Provost of Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu, Dr Phillips Nto has expressed shock over the sudden death of the Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution, Chief Ndidi Okereke.

Speaking at the emergency meeting of the Academic Board of the College,Dr Nto described the late chairman as a charismatic leader who sacrificed a lot for the stability and progress of the school.

“Everyone of us is in shock and disbelief because we never heard that he was sick, only to be told of his death”, he said.

The Provost explained that the emergency academic board meeting was convened in the memory of the departed council chairman.

He noted that Chief Okereke was like a father to the college community and worked quietly but efficiently to make ASCETA better.

According to him, the late chairman was not only accessible but humble in attending to matters brought before him.

Dr Phillips Nto said the ASCETA family would miss his wise fatherly counsel and other contributions which endeared him to the management,staff and students of the college.

He directed the Registrar,Mr Ikechukwu Odoemelam to immediately open a condolence register for the departed council chairman.

Dr Phillips Nto condoled with Gov Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and the family of Chief Ndidi Okereke over the painful loss.
