Elder Statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has called on Nigerians especially the people of South East and Mbaitolu-Ikeduru extraction to cultivate all available lands in their areas to ensure massive food production.
Chief Iwuanyanwu, expressed worry how the nation’s economy is drifting, describing it as frightening and may lead to terrible hunger and death.
Chief Iwuanyanwu spoke at the inauguration of Mbaike People’s Assembly, a socio political group to champion the cause of the people of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru LGAs.
The event took place at the Glasshouse, Owerri.
He noted that there are enough uncultivated lands in the South East and Mbaitolu-Ikeduru, which if put in to proper use will produce enough food for the masses.
According to Chief Iwuanyanwu, the world is moving towards agricultural revolution, pointing out that dependence on oil will soon phase out.
He stressed the importance of peace among the people of Mbaitolu-Ikeduru, adding that the two local governments have been one for decades.
Chief Iwuanyanwu further advised all elected government officials from the two local government areas to use their positions to empower their people to reduce poverty and unemployment.
Chief Iwuanyanwu also stressed the need for equity in the sharing of political elective offices in the two local government areas as such will lead to harmony and peaceful coexistence.
In his speech, the President General of MBAIKE Peoples Assembly Barrister Mercelinus Nlemigbo, emphasised that the people of Mbaitolu-Ikeduru Local government areas have not jettisoned the rotation of elective offices among the two local governments.
Chief Nlemigbo called for unity and peace pointing out that Mbaike People’s Assembly, MPA, is a sociocultural organisation which affords the people of the two local government understand themselves and move with one voice.
He commended the leadership qualities of their BOT Chairman and GrandPatron Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu on local, national and international issues pointing that Chief Iwuanyanwu is one personality who has not only trained thousands of people but has also empowered millions of people not minding the peoples place of origin.
