Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senatorial Candidate, Prince Alex Mbata, has said a new era has come to Owerri zone, urging the electorate in the zone, to ignore story tellers and elect those who are determined to focus on their welfare, development and advancement.
Mbata, popularly called PAM, made the assertion on Friday, when he was hosted by some top political leaders in Owerri West LGA, at Umuguma
.The leaders pledged their unflinching support to his senatorial ambition.The APC Senatorial hopeful called on voters in the zone to consider the antecedents and capacity of the candidates, and make an informed choice on the day of election, by voting for him and all APC candidates in the February 25, 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He said at all times, he has the interest of the people of Owerri zone at heart, a fact which propelled him to aside empowering the vulnerable in the zone at a whopping sum of N500m, he embarked on construction of roads in some parts of the zone with his personal funds to aid the state government in infrastructure development in the zone.He said the people of Owerri Zone should look out for those who have impacted positively on the lives of the people and vote for them and not those who take them granted.
“ I m a man of character. My report card speaks of my character. The basis for voting for anyone should be what have you done for your people. That should be the yardstick to vote for anyone. Gone are the days of story tellers. The days of performers like me has come” the business mogul stated.
In his remarks, a notable political leader in Owerri West LGA, Commodore Ogechi Osuagwu (retd), described Prince Mbata as a good man, who has done so much to empower the vulnerable through his several empowerment programmes in Owerri Zone.
He said the effectiveness of his empowerment programmes stands him out as the right person to represent the people of the zone at the senate.
“You are a good man, your antecedents speak for you and we are proud of you. We know you will give Owerri zone genuine representation at the senate” he said.Among other political leaders present at the event include Majority Leader, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Onyemaechi, Hon Victor Murako, Chairman, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, among others.
