Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a former Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Sir Jude Ejiogu, has endorsed the senatorial bid of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo East Senatorial candidate, Prince Alex Mbata.
Sir Ejiogu, a notable political leader in Owerri North and one- time governorship hopeful in Imo State, announced his support for Mbata at a strategic stakeholders meeting held at his palatial country home in Emekuku.
Speaking at the event witnessed by thousands of APC chieftains and stakeholders in Owerri Zone, Ejiogu said he resolved to endorse Mbata after a careful study of those who are seeking the mandate of the people of Owerri zone to be elected to the Senate.
He said “I have carefully looked at those contesting for the Senate seat of Owerri zone and I have decided to endorse Mbata because he has the fear of God.
“He has done a lot for the people of the zone and he has what it takes to represent us at the red chambers of the senate.
“I have turned down others who have approached me for support. Our duty is deliver him and we will support him to win the senatorial elections in the coming weeks.
“We will campaign across the nooks and crannies of Owerri zone to ensure he emerges and succeeds at the forthcoming polls” he stated.
In his speech, Prince Mbata, popularly called PAM, reiterated his vow that he will not disappoint the good people of Owerri zone.
“Owerri zone will benefit from my representation at the senate. I did not join politics to enrich myself; I joined the political turf because I want to aid the poor and the vulnerable.
“Every community in Owerri zone will feel the impact of my representation. Your vote for me is for the interest of the good people of the zone.
“Owerri zone needs the finest and I want to assure you that immediately I m elected to the senate, I shall return home to dialogue with you and seek the way forward for the zone.
“And by the special grace of God, come February 25th, we shall all rejoice because I will be elected the next Senator for Owerri zone” Mbata stated.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Prince Alex Mbata Divine Movement, Chief Henry Njoku (Harritex), assured the crowd that Mbata will live up to expectations at the senate.
Other notable speakers at the event, such as former Chairman, All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter, Christian Oguoma, former Owerri North LGA Chairman, Austin Achilike, Chief Emma Duru, Frank Nweke, Barr Jeo Obi, aligned with the views of Sir Ejiogu, assuring Mbata of victory and success at the forthcoming senatorial election.
