Rain In Owerri, Roads Deserted, As Election Results Trickle In

There was a mild rainfall in Owerri, Imo State capital and environ, in the evening hours of Saturday, as roads and streets were deserted after the close of time for the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The rain began at about 5pm, voting ended in most polling Units across the State.

Most of the streets and major roads in the State capital, such as Wethedral road, Tetlow Road, Egbu Road, Warehouse junction, Orji and Douglas road, were deserted even after the close of elections.

There was impressive turn out of voters in most parts of the State capital, though INEC officials came late to most polling Units.

Results of the election have begun to trickle in, as collation by INEC, is expected to commence on Sunday.
