*As LP Guber Aspirant, Mobilizes Support for Party’s House of Assembly Candidates In Imo*
Leading Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial aspirant in Imo State, Major General Lincoln Keonyemere Ogunewe (Rtd) MFR, has been absolved of allegations that he wrongly interfered with security agents during the Presidential elections of February 25, 2023 election held in Imo State.
A statement issued in Owerri by his Support Group, Team Reset Imo and signed by Prof Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe, Chairman, Reset Imo Campaign Advisory Council, described the allegations as ”baseless.”
The full statement reads:
”The attention of Team RESET IMO has been drawn to a programed malicious campaign of calumny mounted against the rising political profile of the popular and Leading Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial aspirant in Imo state, Major General Lincoln Keonyemere Ogunewe (rtd) MFR by some political opponents.
At first it was one Ngozi Okeke who claimed she was acting on behalf of a group (ICJP) International Centre of Justice for Palestinians that made the fabricated allegation. And now it is one Everest Ikenna Onwuama who claims to be a member of PDP, that was roundly defeated in the state in the presidential election and a member of ”PDP’s Elders Council’ that is making a spurious claim that Ogunewe interfered with the elections by using security agents to favour our Party in Aboh Mbaise, Ezinihitte and Ngor Okpala local government areas.
On behalf of Major General Ogunewe, we wish to deny these baseless allegations and state categorically that nothing of such ever happened.
We wish to reiterate that Major General Ogunewe (LKJ) is currently very busy mobilising support for all Imo State House of Assembly candidates of the Labour Party (LP) for the Saturday March 11, 2023 elections.
Major General Ogunewe is taking steps to unravel the true identities of these people making these false allegations and when identified take legal steps to seek redress against them for malicious and defamatory publications against him.
Major General Ogunewe is urging all LP supporters to come out in large numbers on saturday and vote massively for LP, with the Logo, Papa, Mama And Pikin to consolidate the victory of Peter Obi.
We also use this opportunity to thank all Labour Party executives and members, all Imo workers and citizens and residents of Imo State who came out during the Presidential and National Assembly Elections and voted Peter Obi and Labour candidates.
