The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been ordered to proceed forthwith by the Court of Appeal to reconfigure the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS).
The Court order came barely 72 hours to the conduct of the governorship and State Assembly elections in the country.
Justice Joseph Ikyegh, who delivered the ruling of a 3 man panel of the Court of Appeal, held that stopping the electoral umpire from reconfiguring the BVAS, would constrain the Commission from conducting the March 11 election.
Labour Party, LP, Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had sought an order of the Court “restraining the 1st respondent (INEC) from tampering with the information embedded in the BVAS machines until the due inspection is conducted and certified true copies (CTC) issued”
