Gerald Irona, a former governor of Imo State, has been arrested by the Police.
Irona, was arrested for converting government owned vehicles for personal use.
The vehicles are a Land Cruiser V8, Land Cruiser V5, and a Toyota Hilux.
Sources told newspaper that Irona was arrested based on a Court Order, sought and obtained by the Imo State government.
The vehicles, were said to have been acquired with public funds when Irona was Deputy Governor of Imo State, which he later converted for personal use after he left office.
Reacting to the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Imo State Command, ASP Henry Okoye, said Irona’s arrest was effected after a thorough investigation by officers of the Command.
He said the former Deputy Governor would be charged to court after completion of investigation.
