Baring unforeseen circumstances, two major political parties in Imo State- the Labour Party, LP and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would hold its governorship primaries, in April, 2023.
The Peoples Democratic, party, PDP, is expected to hold its governorship primary on April 14, while that of the Labour party would take place on April 10
13 governorship aspirants have secured the Labour Party’s, LP, governorship Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms, while two aspirants would vie for the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Among those who are eying the Labour Party governorship ticket and have secured the Nomination Forms are: Major General Lincoln Jack Ogunewe (retd), Senator Athan Achonu, Martin Agbaso, Barr Humphrey Anumudu, Chief Joseph Ukaegbu, Dr.Tochi J.Ehirim, Rt Hon Ike Ibe, Rt Hon Kelechi Nwagwu, Dr Basil Maduka, Engr Chinedu Amadi, AIG Charles Agomuo (retd), Capt David Mbamara and Chief C.Ishiguzo.
Ten of the thirteen governorship aspirants are from Owerri zone, two from Okigwe zone and one from Orlu zone.
In the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, two governorship aspirants have been cleared by the party to contest for the governorship ticket.
Serial governorship aspirants, a former governor of Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, are to jostle for the party’s guber ticket, scheduled to hold on April 14, 2023.
