Emeka Ihedioha, a former governor of Imo State, was conspicuously absent at the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The primary took place at the State Secretariat of the party located along Owerri/Okigwe Road, where Senator Samuel Anyanwu emerged winner of the exercise.

Ihedioha had withdrawn from the party’s governorship primary two weeks ago.

In a letter to the PDP National Chairman, dates March 27, 2023, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, cited personal sacrifice and for “a consensus candidate” of the party, as reasons for his withdrawal from the race.

Following Ihedioha’s withdrawal from the Primary, Senator Anyanwu became the sole aspirant for the party’s governorship ticket.
