Obasanjo, Sultan, Others Salute Iwuanyanwu On His Emergence As Ohaneze Ndigbo President General


Eminent Nigerians and in Diaspora have congratulated Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu on his election as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.


Prominent among them are Former President Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR, Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’adu Abubakar, the Chief Executive of Oranto Petroleum, Engr. Prince Arthur Eze, South East Governors, the Leadership of Northern Elders Forum and Nigerians in the United States of America, United Kingdom and other parts of the World.


In his message, Former President Obasanjo described Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s emergence as President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo as well deserved.

Obasanjo said that by Chief Iwuanyanwu’s past record of excellent leadership, loyalty and patriotism, he has no doubt that the world-renowned Engineer and technocrat will lead Ndigbo to a new horizon. He advised the Ahaejiagamba not to only look inwards, but to look outwards for the peace and unity of Nigeria.


Former President Obasanjo enjoined Chief Iwuanyanwu to use his position to ensure unity, progress and development of Igbo land and Nigeria.


The Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’adu Abubakar in his own message commended Chief Iwuanyanwu for his great services to the country. He expressed joy and happiness for Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s election as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

The Sultan of Sokoto observed that Chief Iwuanyanwu has been a bridge builder and hopes that, with his new position as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, he will ensure that Igbos work relentlessly for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria. He pledged the support of the Sultanate in all effort, to ensure peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians.


The Chief Executive of Oranto Petroleum Limited Engr. Prince Arthur Eze felicitated with Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu on his affirmation as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. Prince Arthur Eze, the Ozoigbondu said that Chief Iwuanyanwu’s election as the President General of Ohanaeze is a well-deserved appointment adding that with his pedigree as an achiever, they have firm confidence that his Leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo will be to the benefit of Igboland and Nigeria.


Prince Eze prayed God to give Chief Iwuanyanwu the wisdom and grace to accomplish this new assignment to be able to achieve great things.


In their message, the Northern Elders Forum described the new President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as distinguished Nigerian, the forum hopes that the new Leadership will mark significant improvement in elite cohesion and national consensus that should see the country through the difficult stages it is passing through presently.


In a statement by the Director of Publicity and Advocacy of the Forum, Dr Hakeem Baba- Ahmed the Northern Elders Forum charged the new president General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to improve on the engagements between the North and the East on a variety of key National issues.
The South East Governors Forum through their leader the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State Chief Engr. Dave Umahi congratulated Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu on his ascension into the revered seat of President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. The SouthEast Governors said that Chief Iwuanyanwu’s pedigree, father-figure and unblemished character, not only portend the best for Ndigbo but a bright future indeed. The Governors prayed the Almighty God to give Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu the strength, vision and grace to perform creditably as usual in the new assignment. They described him as Dimkpa Ndigbo.
The former Governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji in his message said that throughout Igbo land, nobody else is more deserving of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo today than Chief Iwuanyanwu. He said that Chief Iwuanyanwu has the clout, pedegree and voice to douse the tensions and rally Ndigbo and their friends to handle the tasks ahead. Chief Orji added that as the Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo, the cap has generally been placed on his head and the sword of justice firmly in his grip. Senator Orji said that the numerous titles and accolades given to Chief Iwuanyanwu across the length and breath of the country by different tribes and tongues such as the Obong Uwana Efik Eburutu, Balogun Babaguwa of Ibadan land among others are eloquent testimonies to his prowess and achievements in his chosen profession of engineering and
philanthropy that have become more than a hubby and the elevations of the issues of faith.
Senator Theodore Orji observed that in all Chief Iwuanyanwu’s numerous achievements, he did not discriminate against anyone rather the most needy in the society received speediest attention from him.
In their message the Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the United Kingdom described Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as the proper and fit person to wear the symbol of Igbo land now. In a message signed by their President, Engr Stanley Okechukwu, the Secretary Chief Uche Osuigwe and the Publicity Secretary Charles Nwaogwugwu, the UK Ohanaeze Ndigbo and their Executive Council, the Imeobi, the Women Wing and the entire membership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in UK described Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as a great son of Igboland of no mean feat.


They said that Chief Iwuanyanwu is one of the foremost Igbo icons who has been in the forefront of the struggle for Igbo emancipation and in defending the interest of Ndigbo in the Nigeria geopolitical space.


They said that as Chairman of Elders Council of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, he defended the culture, traditions and heritage of the Igbo nation. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the United Kingdom maintained that Chief Iwuanyanwu has always condemned the ill-treatment on Ndigbo and also frowned at all ugly actions meted against Ndigbo wherever they reside both within the shores of the country and in diaspora.
They believed that Chief Iwuanyanwu will use the new position to continue to bring his wealth of experience, knowledge and love for the culture of Ndigbo to thrive. They prayed God to continue to give him long life, wisdom and successful tenure in office.
