The 27 elected members of Imo State House of Assembly are on retreat in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital for five days.
The retreat, this newspaper was told , is to orientate members elect on legislative proceedings.
“To ensure the 10th Imo Assembly takes off on sound footing, incoming and returning lawmakers would embark on a five day retreat and orientation exercise in Uyo
“The retreat would provide lawmakers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with their mandate, educating them on legislative processes, particularly the incoming legislators
“The legislative tools that would give them head start in legislative responsibility to their constituents would also be provided to them” part of the statement by the Speake
