ADC Guber Candidate, Okoroma Inaugurates Campaign Council, Unveils Plans For Imo

Ahead of the November 11, 2023 governorship election, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, James Okoroma, has inaugurated the party’s campaign council,  as part of measures by the party to clinch victory in the polls.

Okoroma, in his speech at the inauguration ceremony held at the State headquarters of the party in Owerrri, assured of his readiness to make Imo better if elected into office.

He said Imo State is bleeding, and the people of the State should reject the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming election.

He said the State is currently indebted to the tune of N200bn, while infrastructure in a total State of disrepair.

“God has rejected the APC, Imolites should reject APC. All the good works of Mbakwe are gone. There is no road, no water” he said.

Okoroma pledged to secure lives and property, expressing worry over the high rate of insecurity in the State. He recalled that in the past one week, more than 60 people have been killed and about 200 houses destroyed in Oguta local government area of the State.


He said he will adopt an unconventional approach  in tackling insecurity in the State.

“I m going to adopt unconventional approaches to restore security. Nobody will invest in the State because of insecurity.We have insecurity in the State because those who are leading Imo do not command respect of the people” he said.

Okoroma assured that if elected governor, he will broker an agreement between State and non State actors as part of measures to restore security in the state.

“Our aggrieved sons and daughters will be brought to the negotiation table.

“I won’t invite the Police to go and kill them, I won’t invite our enemies to go and kill my people. Those who hate us are the ones protecting us now. Is it possible?

“To rebuild Imo State is a task that must be done. The new Imo requires somebody like me. I will be a leader that will inspire our children. I will restore the respect of the traditional institution” he assured.

He said he will emulate the government of Late Sam Mbakwe, and implement a channellzation scheme to de flood Owerri immediately after each rainfall.

Okoroma vowed to reposition the education sector, by introducing an education system in which employable graduates would be equipped with skills to compete favourably.

Earlier in her remarks, the Director General of James Okoroma Governorship Organization, Amaka Chiegena, described the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of the party, as the most qualified for the job of governing the State.
