A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Owerri Municipal Council, Imo State, Hon. CDB Williams, has expressed bitterness over the sudden death of his kinsman, an APC stalwart and renowned journalist, Hon. Sunny Onyeukwu.

The deceased was Special Adviser to the immediate past Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.

Speaking with journalists during the funeral of Late Mr Onyeukwu in Owerri at the weekend, CDB Williams, who was the candidate of APC for Owerri Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election, said the deceased had paid his dues in the party as well as in his community of origin, Umuihugba- Umuodu in Owerri Municipal.

He pointed out that his death was a huge loss given that Sunny Onyeukwu was a pragmatic politician who he said contributed in no small measure to the growth of APC in Owerri Municipal Council, Imo State and the country in general.

“Sunny Onyeukwu was my younger brother and my kinsman. The news of his passing was a rude shock, quite devastating. I really weep for the family and the community in general for the loss of such a promising and intelligent young man. He had made his mark, an erudite journalist and outstanding politician. I do not know how many people of his age and time that got to the level he got in life. He was the Special Adviser to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu and only a few can write like Sunny Onyeukwu”, CDB Williams said.
