There was gun duel in Owerri, Imo State capital on Saturday, when Police operatives overpowered an armed robbery gang during a shoot out.
A suspected member of the gang was killed during the shoot out.
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed a popular jewellery shop, Goldwise jewellery shop, at Ikenegbu layout close to Kilimanjaro.
An eye witness said the gang members, seven of them in number came in a white Toyota Hilux and encountered the police operatives of the State police Command who had cordoned the area after shooting the driver.
According to him, other members of the gang immediately fled after the police shot the driver.
Two suspects were arrested and ammunition recovered during the operation.
Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police e Public Relations Officer, confirmed the death of the suspects while parading the two suspects arrested.
