EXCLUSIVE: Imo, Core APC States May Get Second Ministerial Nominees

If signals from the nation’s seat of power, Aso Rock, is anything to go by, Imo State may possibly get a second ministerial nominee.

President Bola Tinubu, had last week sent to the Senate, 28 ministerial nominees, with Imo State Finance Commissioner, Mrs Dorris Uzoka- Anite, as the ministerial nominee from the State.

11 states were left out in the first batch of ministerial nominees by Mr President, which sources said, would be filled up soon.

However, there are strong indications that some states may get two ministerial nominees as President Tinubu is said to be keen to have more than 37 Ministers, as part of his plans to actualize the core objectives of his Renewed Hope agenda.

By law, each state of the Federation and the FCT is bound to have one Minister to represent it in the Federal Executive Council, FEC.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, had over 45 ministers, with two ministers coming from some States.

14 Ministers have been thus far screened by the Senate as at Monday. Among those screened by the upper legislature include former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and 13 others.

A source who spoke to this newspaper on condition of anonymity said “some states such as Kano, Imo, and few others where the APC is firmly rooted may be the States to produce two ministerial nominees.

“Baring unforeseen circumstances, the nominees will be included among the 11 states which are yet to have one ministerial nominee” the source stated.
