The November 11, 2023 Imo governorship election has been described as a walkover for Governor Hope Uzodimma
Uzodimma is the governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for the polls.
He will up against 12 governorship candidates of various political parties in the contest.
A chieftain of the party from Ideato LGA, Hon. Geoffrey Ugwu, who spoke to INNONEWS in Owerri, said the Imo governor will face little or no opposition, on his return to Government House, Owerri, for a second time.
“The guber election, will be a walk over for our governor, because he is the most serious of all the governorship candidates in the contest
“He has performed well in areas of infrastructure, in provision of durable and solid roads across the State such as Owerri- Mbaise- Umuahia road, Owerri- Okigwe road and Owerri- Orlu road.
“These are signature projects, which past administrations lacked the political will to execute. These roads are arteries of the economy of the State and it has boosted economic development in the State.
“He has achieved similar feat in health and education sectors. And he needs another four years to complete the good work he has started” he said.
Ugwu, who is an LG Chairmanship aspirant, stated that Imo State needs continuity in governance, especially in the face of insecurity troubling the State.
“We need continuity in governance because of the peculiar situation in the State . We don’t need a newcomer or someone who will learn the ropes.
“Besides, none of the governorship candidates posses the capacity to win the guber election in the State. Most of them are not on ground. They are floating. They are Johnny just come politicians.
“Some are hoping that the Peter Obi factor or the LP wave in the presidential election will work in their favour at the guber election. It will not be so” he said.
Ugwu noted that of all the political parties jostling for the governorship race, it is only the APC, that has the most formidable and functional political structure across the State, to win the governorship election.
“The PDP has lost its soul since Ihedioha took the back seat in the party. The LP has lost the momentum to win an election. So, its going to be a walk over for our governor and the APC” he declared.
