As Peter Obi Tsunami Hits Imo

One of the major factors which shaped the outcome of the presidential and National Assembly election in the South East was the Peter Obi tsunami which consumed other political parties, including the governing All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Obi tsunami earned victory for the Labour party in the Abia State governorship election and clinched some senatorial and House of Reps seats in other States in the region.

The Obi tsunami is unstoppable. It is propelled by a relentless and fearless mass movement called the Obidients, which is unapologetic about the philosophy of the Labour party presidential candidate.

The Obi firepower is capable of uprooting the APC led State government in the State, the way it did in Abia, where Alex Otti of the Labour party broke the dominance and stronghold of the PDP in God’s Own State.

Imo State is on the verge of witnessing or experiencing the Obi wave or tsunami.  In a State the people are marooned by inept governance, the Obi wave is a potent force which is capable of blowing away an ill wind in the State.

Peter Obi captured the mood of the people of Imo State at the unveiling of the Athan Achonu/Tony Nwulu governorship ticket in Owerri on Tuesday, when he said he has issued a red card to the APC government of Senator Hope Uzodimma.

He stated that the people of Abia State are now witnessing good governance because a “first-class brain” who knows what he is doing is now the governor of the State. He wants such benefit to come to Imo.

The massive crowd which attended the event was ignited into frenzy when Obi spoke, as he gave hope and confidence to a despondent Imo populace, who have been ravaged by years of insecurity, hunger and poverty.

Indeed, the colouration and intensity of the Imo governorship contest has changed.  Obi has breathed life into the Achonu/Nwulu ticket.  The Labour party has been energized for the governorship polls in three months.

The outcome of the Presidential and National Assembly election, in the state, which Obi won overwhelmingly, is a clear indication that the party has what it takes to make other parties sweat in the Imo governorship contest.
