Austin Jay Jay Okocha, a former captain of the Super Eagles, has acknowledged that he prefers to watch European leagues than the Nigeria Professional Football League.
During the English Premier League trophy tour in Nairobi, Kenya, Okocha made this statement.
The NPFL needs to raise the bar, according to the former Bolton Wanderers player, if it wants to draw in reputable sponsors.
In order to improve where necessary, he urged the NPFL board to learn from the Europeans.
“If I’m being completely honest, I don’t think I’d watch the Nigerian League if a Premier League match was on television since the Premier League is more appealing.
“We need to go back to the drawing board and give ourselves time to put something together that will make our leagues attractive.” he said.
