Court Sacks Ex Imo Assembly Speaker

A former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, who represents Obowo State Constituency in the State Assembly and ran in the most recent election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been sacked by the Imo State House of Assembly Tribunal, which sits in Nasarawa State.

According to information obtained by our correspondent, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to grant Princess Nkechi Anyanwu Mbachu, the candidate for the Labour Party (LP), the certificate of return after winning the March 18, 2023, Obowo State Assembly election.

Ibeh’s certificate of return must be immediately collected and given to his Labour Party rival, according to the Tribunal’s ruling.

Ibeh had represented Obowo State Constituency on two consecutive occasions.

He is expected to appeal the judgment at the Appeal Court.
