The Special Adviser to Imo State Governor on Imo Orientation Agency, Chief Dr. Fidel Onyeneke, has advised the Imo electorate to have an open mind and shun all acts of violence as they go for the November 11 gubernatorial polls.
Chief Onyeneke said in Owerri that peaceful conduct and the success of the election depended on the right attitude of the people.
He stressed that the election was not a war but rather a conscious effort to vote for people who would further enhance the socio-economic and political well-being of the masses.
Chief Onyeneke urged the people to guard their utterances and avoid actions that would lead to bickering, fighting, and mudslinging.
The Special Adviser reminded the political actors that elections are not a do-or-die affair,adding that campaigns must be based on issues devoid of provocative statements.
According to Onyeneke, the paramount things remained the peaceful coexistence, unity, progress, and development of Imo State during and after the election.
He appealed to the residents of the state to join hands with the Imo State government in its efforts to ensure the smooth conduct of the election for the benefit of the masses.
The Special Adviser emphasized that the growth of all facets of Imo State is superior to any other considerations by some misguided individuals.
He commended Governor Hope Uzodinma for making frantic efforts towards protecting lives and property in different parts of the state.
The Special Adviser cautioned some major actors in the electoral process, including politicians, media practitioners, traditional leaders,Traditional and religious leaders, to brace up to the challenges and other issues that might be inimical to the peace of the state during this period of electioneering campaigns.
