*Says It Is Plot By Uzodimma To Rig Nov 11, Guber Election*
The African Action Congress, AAC, has cautioned the people of Imo State to reject “Operation Show Your PVC for Palliative” scheme of the APC led Governor Hope Uzodimma administration.
In a statement in Owerri, the AAC campaign council said “It is a plot by the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and leaders of the APC, to forcefully hijack their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC”
It further alleged that “Governor Uzodimma is struggling to gain access to their PVCs, in order to rig the November 11, 2023 governorship election, after it appears the people have abandoned him”
The party described the exercise as a trap to expose their private identification numbers to scavengers, urging “Imo residents to remain alert and not to exchange their PVCs with two and a half cups of rice from Uzodinma. Imo people are advised to reject this Greek gift aimed at exposing their private identification numbers to scavengers”
The AAC further alleged that “Uzodinma has released the remaining palliatives to only those with PVCs who are supposed to be APC members”
“This means that Imo citizens who are members of other political parties like Labour Party, APGA, SDP, NNPP, PDP, AAC, and others cannot partake. The development is criminal and wicked, which is at variance with the Federal Government’s sharing template. It indicates that Uzodinma’s administration is too petty and vindictive to have leveraged on the free-will gift to frustrate Imo people.
“The actions of Uzodinma and his party leaders justify previous reports on the media that the APC government in the state diverted over N2 billion from the intervention funds and allocated over 50 thousand bags of the contingent to relatives, friends, and well-wishers at the detriment of Imo citizens.
“The image of Imo state government is at stake and badly mutilated in the eyes of the world. While other states in the country are freely and genuinely distributing the palliatives to indigenes of their states irrespective of party affiliations or PVCs, Uzodinma and his directionless administration are using the gift as a weapon to continue to impoverish Imo people.
“The party calls on Imo people to remain alert as Uzodinma is struggling to have access to their PVCs to enable his government to rig the November 11 governorship election. It advises Imo people to reject this Greek gift aimed at exposing their private identification numbers to scavengers or exchanging their PVCs with two and a half cups of rice from Uzodinma” the statement concluded.
