Wilfred Ndidi has added to the injury woes of the Super Eagles ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Leicester City manager, Enzo Maresca, disclosed on Friday that the midfielder is suffering from a muscular injury, and his recovery period is expected to be an extended one.

Maresca stated, “The only one is Wilf… That looks a bit more than tiredness as we thought at the beginning, so he probably has to stay out some days or weeks. It’s not an important problem, just a muscular problem that we thought was not important. It’s not big, but I think at least for some days or weeks he’s going to be out.”

This development compounds the Super Eagles’ injury concerns, as Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has already been ruled out of the two upcoming matches due to a thigh injury.

Furthermore, players like Taiwo Awoniyi, Samuel Chukwueze, and Semi Ajayi are all doubtful for the qualifiers, raising uncertainties about their availability.

The injuries to these key players present challenges for Nigeria’s campaign in the World Cup qualifiers. The team will need to carefully manage its resources and seek alternative solutions to maintain its competitive edge in the matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
