Occupy Imo: Court Halts NLC, TUC Strike

BY INNOCENT ONYEUKWU

The National Industrial Court in Owerri, Imo State, has issued an extended interim injunction, preventing the organized labour, including the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), from initiating any form of strike in the state.

This injunction also applies to their planned “OCCUPY IMO” protest.

The request for this extension came from the Imo State Government and the Attorney General, Cyprian Akaolisa, in response to threats of a strike and protests by the NLC.

The court granted the extended interim injunction after considering the arguments presented by the plaintiffs.

The court also warned that failure to comply with this order will have consequences.
