Police Arrest Suspect Over Lover’s Death, Parades Another For Stabbing In Imo

The Imo State Police Command has made significant strides in two separate cases, one involving the alleged murder of a lover and the other a fatal stabbing, resulting in the arrest of suspects and ongoing investigations into the incidents.

In the first case, the police arrested Chinenye Nwaneri in connection with the death of his alleged lover, Chienyenwa Nnodua.

The lifeless body of the deceased was discovered in a gutter at Madumere Street, Christ Road, Owerri, prompting a response from law enforcement agents following a distress call received by Bishop Silas Anoruo.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was last seen with the suspect, Chinenye Nwaneri, leading to his subsequent arrest.

According to police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, further investigation implicated Nwaneri in Nnodua’s death, and the deceased’s body has been sent for forensic examination to determine the cause of death.

He said Nwaneri is set to be charged to court pending the conclusion of the investigation.

In another development, the police apprehended Onwuhara Nwachuku for the fatal stabbing of 57-year-old Theophilus Ukwe.

Nwachuku confessed to the crime, citing self-defense after Ukwe allegedly approached him with a cutlass while he was harvesting palm fruit on his farm.

The suspect is slated to face legal proceedings as investigations continue.

Okoye reassured the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining safety and security in the state under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma.

He said the command remains dedicated to upholding the law and ensuring justice for all parties involved in these incidents.
