Police Apprehend Notorious Robbery Suspect In Imo

In a joint operation between Imo State Police and local vigilantes, 23-year-old Izea John Chukwuebuka, a notorious armed robbery suspect, has been apprehended en route to Alaba International Market in Owerri.

Hailing from Asa Community in Ohaji, Chukwuebuka was found in possession of a locally made pistol and live ammunition.

Police spokesman Henry Okoye revealed that the arrest, which occurred on April 9, 2024, unveiled Chukwuebuka’s involvement in robbing unsuspecting individuals at various markets and business areas in the state, including Alaba International Market, Douglas Market, and Tetlow.


According ot the Police spokesman, the suspect confessed to being part of a larger network operating within the Ama Hausa Market, where stolen goods are exchanged for cash.

The Police stated it is now now focused on dismantling this criminal syndicate, targeting receivers of stolen goods and those involved in the production and sale of locally made firearms.

The Police further disclosed that efforts are underway to apprehend Chukwuebuka’s accomplices, with plans to transfer him to state headquarters for further investigation.
