Okigwe Zone LP Leaders Galvanize Grassroot Support For Party

Chieftains of the Labour Party across the six (6) Local Governments in Okigwe Zone of Imo State have reiterated their commitment towards galvanizing massive grassroot support for the party in the Zone.

Raising from a strategic meeting held at the Okwelle Palatial Residence of Chief Chukwuma Ezeihuaku, weekend, they vowed to consolidate and reposition the party to enable it wrestle power from the incumbent ruling All Progresives Congress in the state.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the meeting, Chief Ezeihuaku said, “this meeting was geared towards evaluating and galvanizing support for the activities of the Labour Party in Okigwe Zone.”

“This meeting afforded us the opportunity to stress the need for the party leaders to continually explore ways that will help strengthen our party and it’s activities in our various villages, wards and LGAs that make up Okigwe Zone especially now that the membership registration and revalidation process is ongoing.

“This is because, people of Okigwe Zone want to be part of the Labour Party and the gates of the Labour Party is fully open for every lover of good governance to join.

“Honestly I want every well-meaning Imo citizen to join Labour Party because the party represents the general interest of public. It is only the party I am convinced will move Nigeria forward as we collectively desire.”

Also, Chief Ezeihuaku, an astute politician and philanthropist also used the opportunity to urged former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members including Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha join LP and contribute their quota to the overall success of the party in the state.

He disclosed that the Labour Party have received several calls from people willing to join LP, especially the PDP decampees.

He said, “as we speak, we receive calls almost on hourly basis from people who are expressing their desire to join Labour Party. Honestly, I had wish that these people listened to me earlier and joined us in supporting Mr. Peter Obi in the last general elections.

“All the same, Labour Party as I have said earlier is open to receive them all into our fold as far as they are coming in with genuine intention and the commitment to help our party grow and achieve successes.”

The meeting was well attended by Members of the State Working Committee led by the State Secretary Chief Sir Pauly Udechukwu, Okigwe Zonal Excos, Local Government Chairmen and Excos, Ward Chairmen and leaders of the Party in Okigwe Zone.
