Osuagwu argued that the government should prioritize generating enough electricity for Nigerians before increasing tariffs, citing countries like South Africa, Tanzania, and Rwanda, which have made significant strides in electricity supply.
He called on the government to repackage the electricity situation in the country for efficient distribution and supply, and to send engineers to study successful models in other countries.
Meanwhile, residents of World Bank Housing Estate in Owerri, Imo State, have demanded the scrapping of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), citing its inefficiency and failure to supply electricity since the beginning of the year.
One of the residents, Mr Evans Ogu, lamented to INNONEWS that despite not having light, residents are being issued bogus and frivolous electricity bills.
He called on EEDC to intervene and install a new transformer in the area to reduce the load on the old one.

“The situation has led to frustration and anger among residents, who feel that the EEDC has outlived its useful era and should be scrapped” he said.
