7 Die In Fatal Accident At IMSU Junction, Owerri

A devastating accident occurred yesterday evening on the Okigwe-Owerri road, close to the Imo State University (IMSU) junction, claiming the lives of at least seven people.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened around 7:00 p.m. when a trailer allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road lost control due to brake failure and collided with a six-seater commuter bus filled with passengers.

The trailer reportedly crushed the bus, trapping the passengers inside, while pedestrians standing on the roadside suffered severe injuries.

A source described the scene as “gory” and stated that the victims were trapped inside the vehicle, with some dying instantly.

This tragic incident is not the first of its kind on this stretch of road.

Similar accidents have occurred in the same spot last year and in previous years, raising concerns about the safety of the road and the need for measures to prevent such incidents.

The cause of the accident is still unknown, but eyewitnesses claim that the trailer was driving on the wrong side of the road and failed to brake, leading to the devastating collision.
