Police Nab Suspected Armed Robber In Imo With Locally Made Pistol

The Imo Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected armed robber and the recovery of a locally made pistol.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Okoye Henry, the suspect, Ogochukwu Favour David, was apprehended by operatives from the Shell Camp Divisional Headquarters during a routine patrol on June 13, 2024.

The arrest was made along Bank Road, Owerri, after officers observed a group of hoodlums assaulting and robbing a young woman. The suspect was caught while his accomplices fled the scene.

A locally made pistol was recovered from the suspect, who is currently undergoing investigation and will face judicial proceedings in due course.

According to the statement,  the State Commissioner of Police has commended the officers for their commendable performance and urged them to maintain their diligence in combating violent crime.

The police said it is intensifying efforts to capture the remaining culprits and trace the origin of the homemade firearm.
