Owerri To Get New Central Market

There are plans to build a new central market in Owerri, Imo State capital, in response to the growing population of the city and the need for modernized infrastructure to accommodate the increasing demands of the local economy.

Inquiries by INNONEWS reveal that the market will be sited along Owerri- Port Harcourt Road.

The project is being undertaken by the Imo State government.The groundbreaking ceremony for the project is scheduled for June 21, 2024.

According to a post on Facebook by Imo State Public Enlightenment team, “the market is expected to meet the needs of both traders and customers alike and also to stimulate trade and commerce, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall development of Owerri”

“Once completed, the new Central Market will provide a modern and convenient shopping destination for residents and visitors alike, offering a wide range of products and services”

“The new Central Market will also feature state-of-the-art facilities, ample parking space, and a well-organized layout to enhance the shopping experience”

The project is supervised by State Ministry for Trade, Commerce and Investment
