The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has announced the commencement of the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the upcoming Local Government Council Elections.
The announcement was made by the State Party Chairman, Hon. MacDonald Ebere, during a stakeholders’ meeting on Friday, July 12, 2024.
The forms are to be sold at N1,000,000 for Councilorship and N3,000,000 for Chairmanship.
Hon. Ebere emphasized the party’s commitment to a transparent electoral process, stating that the election will be free and fair.
He said the party has not endorsed any sole aspirant or candidate, and the election will be left to the decision of the people.
Regarding zoning arrangements, Ebere noted that the party does not have an official stance, and leaders of affected localities are encouraged to harmonize and select candidates of their choice.
Ebere assured that under Governor Uzodimma’s leadership, the APC would maintain a credible electoral process.
He urged all Chairmanship and Councilorship aspirants to engage actively with their grassroots supporters.
According to him, the bank account number for payment will be posted on the notice board at the State Party Secretariat along Owerri/Okigwe Road by the end of the week.
This newspaper gathered that the sales of forms will kick start at the United Bank for Africa (UBA), with the official sale starting from Monday next week and lasting for one week.
Ebere restated the party leadership commitment to a free and fair election, urging all aspirants to engage in a peaceful and issue-based campaign.
