‘Despite Discordant Tunes,Owerri Zone Will Produce Uzodimma’s Sucesssor’, Says OZAC

The Owerri Zone Awareness Coalition (OZAC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the next governor of Imo State comes from Owerri zone, despite the divisions, discordant tunes and divergent views among some stakeholders in the zone.

In a statement signed by its President General, Emmanuel Okwu, OZAC stated that it remains resolute in its quest for an Owerri zone son to succeed Governor Hope Uzodinma in 2027, in line with the Imo Charter of Equity.

The group dismissed the views of some individuals and groups in Owerri zone who are rooting for Okigwe and strangely Orlu zones to continue holding power in the state, describing their position as “twisted facts” aimed at changing the narrative against the Charter of Equity.

“We are not swayed by the views and positions of some individuals and groups in Owerri zone who prefer Okigwe and Orlu zone to continue to hold on to power in the state,”

“We are not dismayed or perturbed. Rather, we remain resolute and committed to the noble task of electing an Owerri son as governor in 2027.”part of the statement read.

OZAC noted that it believes in robust debate and freedom of expression as essential to enriching the discourse on the 2027 Imo governorship election, urging groups and individuals from Owerri zone canvassing for the return of former governor Ikedi Ohakim to “see reason and not be blinded by baseless sentiments and unconvincing narratives that cannot even convince a kindergarten”

“OZAC’s commitment to the Imo Charter of Equity and the quest for an Owerri zone governor remains unwavering, despite the divergent views.

“However, we believe in robust debate as a major ingredient to nourish democracy and we hold on to the ideals of freedom of expression as a fundamental prerequisite to enrich the discourse on 2027 Imo Guber,” the statement added.

“We believe that our stance and that of other well meaning groups and individuals from the zone is a testament to the zone’s determination to produce the next governor of Imo State, despite internal divisions” the statement concluded.
