Labour Party Loses Top Imo Senator To APC

The Labour Party (LP) has suffered a significant blow with the defection of one of its top senators, Ezenwa Onyewuchi, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Onyewuchi is in the Senate for a second term after serving two terms in the House of Representatives where he represented Owerri Federal Constituency.

Onyewuchi, who represents Imo East in the Senate, submitted his defection letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, which was read on the floor of the chamber on Tuesday.

The defection was witnessed by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who is also the chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), and was present in the chamber when the letter was read.
