Ebubeagu Ekenulo, activist and convener of SAVE IMO, a pressure group, has endorsed the August 1-10, 2024, protest against hunger and bad governance.
Ekenulo in a statement sent to INNONEWS, urged the Federal and State Governments, and security agencies to allow and protect Nigerians to ventilate their grievances in a peaceful manner.
He emphasized that peaceful protest is allowed by law and Nigerians should not be denied this right.
Ekenulo highlighted the sufferings of Imo citizens citing the high cost of foodstuffs, hike in petroleum products, exchange rates, medical care, tuition fees, insecurity, and low employment opportunities.
He described the sufferings as unprecedented and urged Imolites not to pretend about it.
Ekenulo called on Ndi Imo to join the peaceful protest, saying nothing should stop them except cowardice and unbridled sycophancy.
He emphasized that the protest is a constitutional right and Nigerians should exercise it to demand better governance.
Ekenulo’s call to action comes as Nigerians prepare for the August 1-10 protest, seeking to draw attention to the country’s challenges.
