Imo LG Polls: ISIEC Extends Party Primaries

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) has announced an extension of the deadline for party primaries, citing security concerns.

This decision was made during a meeting with party chairmen on August 8, 2024, where ISIEC Chairman Chief Charles Ejiogu explained the reasons behind the extension.

According to Ejiogu, the security issues in the state necessitated the extension, but assured that the September 21st council election date remains unchanged.

Ejiogu maintained that the extension is necessary due to security concerns and will not affect the sacrosanctity of the September 21st election.

The commission also reiterated its stance on not interfering in internal party affairs, but will respect court orders.
