Tragedy struck Heartland FC on Wednesday when their team bus was involved in a road accident while en route to the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT Pre-Season Tournament in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
A statement released by the team, stated that the bus collided with a stationary vehicle at Umunna, near Okigwe in Imo State, after swerving to avoid an oncoming car.
Miraculously, no lives were lost, but several players and officials sustained injuries.
According to the statement, the injured personnel have been hospitalized and are receiving medical attention
