APC LG Primary: Consensus My Preferred Choice To Elect Candidates, Says Uzodimma

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has outlined the process for the APC primaries in Imo State to elect chairmanship and councillorship candidates, emphasizing consensus as his preferred method.

“There are three ways of producing candidates in the Constitution of the APC, one is by direct primaries, second is by indirect primaries, and the third is by consensus,” Uzodimma said.

He expressed his preference for consensus, considering the unique characteristics of each local government.

“My first option will be consensus. Where it is difficult to arrive at a consensus, we will now do direct or indirect primary,” he added.

Uzodimma who addressed party leaders, faithful, and aspirants at the State Party headquaters, Owerri, on Tuesday, stressed the importance of unity and sacrifice in the primary process.

He acknowledged the large number of aspirants in the race, recognizing that not everyone can emerge victorious.

He pledged to demonstrate leadership in managing the situation to ensure a win-win outcome.

He encouraged party members to embrace the outcome of the primaries, knowing that there will be opportunities in the future.

He highlighted the democratic principles of free participation, which inherently involve winners and losers.
